It's summer, and it's hot meaning the kids are probably reminding you about how hot it is. If you're looking for a vacation that's a bit bigger than going to the local pools in the QCA, here are some affordable and nearby spots you can spend a day or two at with the family to cool off this week.

3. Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark

Located at 350 Bell Street, Dubuque, IA 52001

This one makes it onto the list because the drive is just under an hour, and the 25,000-square-foot indoor waterpark offers a great time for the kids, and family alike. They even say,

a variety of rides and attractions for teenagers, kids, pint-sized toddlers and the young at heart.

This spot works perfectly when it comes to a quick vacation since it's a waterpark inside of a hotel. Room pricing starts at just over $200. You can learn more here.

2. Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort

When you look up great water parks near the Quad Cities, this one almost always shows up. According to best waterparks.org, this is one of the best spots to bring the family.

It's just slightly smaller than Grand Harbor, this spot is a 24,000-square-foot indoor waterpark. They have play zones, slides, a wave pool, lazy river, and a 15 person hot tub.

They also have their theme park grand opening this weekend! The new park will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday

BUT this is an article about waterparks to beat the heat, so the Lost Island Waterpark will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. When it comes to waterparks this is the place to be. They actually ranked number two in the nation when it comes to water parks.
