A new survey by Audible.com found the top 10 book characters whose names we mispronounce. Check 'em out:
- Don Quixote. (Pronounced Don Kee-ho-tee.)
- Daenerys Targaryen from "Game of Thrones". (Duh-nair-is Tar-gair-ee-in.)
- Oedipus. (Eh-dih-pus.)
- Hermione from "Harry Potter". (Her-my-oh-nee.)
- Beowulf. (Bay-oh-wulf.)
- Poirot from Agatha Christie's mystery novels. (Pwa-roh.)
- Smaug from "The Hobbit". (It's Smowg, not "smog.")
- Voldemort from "Harry Potter". (Vol-de-more. The "t" was supposed to be silent. But they changed it for the movies.)
- Violet Beauregarde from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". (Vie-ah-let bore-ar-garr.)
- Piscine Patel from "Life of Pi". (Piss-een Pat-el.)
