Photo of Shaved Siberian Husky Raises Concern
Maybe you've seen this photo of a Siberian Husky that has its entire body shaved and the head left furry. Funny or not, it's causing some concern among dog lovers.
Huskies and other double-coated breeds like malamutes, akitas, and Australian shepherds need that fur to keep them both warm and cool.
“It will protect them from the heat and sunburn, and in the cold it protects from the cold weather,” Dr. Jeff Werber told HuffPost. “However if the coat is unhealthy and is matted or has some type of skin disease and for medical reasons we need to shave, then it would be advisable.”
