People Are Microwaving Foil Balls to Smooth Them Out

An April Fool's prank is still claiming victims as people online continue to put balls of aluminum foil into their microwaves.

In case you didn't know, metal plus running microwave equals fire.

I'm sure you already knew that, but apparently there's a lot of people that don't know that little fact. Tweets like this one encouraged people on April 1st to put a foil ball in the microwave to smooth it out:

That photo is actually from someone in Japan that smoothed out a foil ball last month. He pulled it off by using a hammer to smooth the foil into a sphere and then polishing it with various grits of sandpaper.
