Man Explains to Cops That Hatchet is Protection From Florida ‘Scumbags’

Florida definitely has a reputation for having the dumbest criminals in the country. So I can totally see where this guy was coming from.

23-year-old Travis Byerly from Danville, Kentucky was pulled over when he was driving in Clearwater, Florida last week. It turned out he had a suspended license, so he was arrested, and the cops searched his car. They found a hatchet hidden between the driver's seat and the door.

When they asked him why he had a weapon hidden in his car, he told them he needed it for protection from, "scum bags in Florida."

He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and driving with a suspended license. As far as we know, he made it back to Kentucky without any run-ins with scum bags.
