Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling approximately 132,606 pounds of ground beef that  may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O26 according to the  U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The meat was processed and packaged on June 21, 2018 and bear the establishment number "EST. 86R" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

One of the concerns of the Food Safety and Inspection Service is that this meat could be in your freezer. If it is don't cook it and eat it. Get rid of it.

Escherichia coli O26 can cause a nasty illness. Most people become ill three to four days after ingesting the contaminated food product. The most common infection causes diarrhea and vomiting. Re-hydration and other supportive care is recommended. Most people don't need antibiotic treatment and recover within a week. Some individuals can experience a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome. Young children, older adults and persons with weakened immune systems are most susceptible to this.
