The Quad City Storm hockey team has decided to rebrand its franchise as the Quad City Ice Gators for the upcoming two-game series against Knoxville at the Vibrant Arena this weekend.

For One Weekend Only The QC Storm Transform Into The QC Ice Gators

The rebranding comes in the aftermath of severe winter storms that impacted the area, although team officials clarify the timing is coincidental.

Quad City's team President, Brian Rothenberger, explains that the name change is a nod to the team's previous identity as the Louisiana Ice Gators, before the purchase by current owner John Dawson. We think people are sick of storms right now, said Rothenberger humorously.

How Will The Team Celebrate Rebrand Weekend?

To celebrate the rebrand, the team will wear special uniforms for the weekend, complete with in-game promotions and Louisiana-themed music. The jerseys will be auctioned after the game on Saturday, with proceeds benefitting the Friendly House of the Quad Cities in Davenport. Special merchandise will also be sold in the team store inside the arena.

Despite the ongoing winter weather, Rothenberger stresses the importance of providing an escape for fans. “… Even though it’s not going to be sunny and 70 this weekend, there’s going to be an opportunity for people to get out of the house for three hours, cheering, having a good time and enjoying something fun inside. We appreciate the fact that we are able to provide that.”
