Harrison Street will be closed for resurfacing later this month and Brady Street will become a two-way street for the remainder of the year.

Starting August 17th, the $3 million project will have Harrison closed from 5th Street to 12th Street, and Brady Street will accommodate two-way traffic from 4th Street to 14th Street.

Valley Construction of Rock Island is the contractor for the work, which is expected to cost $3 million and be completed by Dec. 28. The contractor says closing Harrison completely during the work will shorten the project by three weeks, according to the city.

Davenport officials said the project is the first part of a two-year project to resurface Harrison and Brady streets. Next year, Brady Street will be resurfaced from River Drive to Lombard Street in a $5 million project.
