Bra Saves Woman’s Life in Lightning Strike
A woman in southern China was struck by lightning this week, and her bra might have saved her life.
Right after her son left to go jogging in a park, it started raining. So she decided to bring him an umbrella, and got hit while she was walking around looking for him.
Apparently the lightning hit the umbrella first, then hit her. Someone found her lying on the ground unconscious. She says she didn't even realize what happened until she woke up in the hospital.
When doctors examined her, they realized the underwire in her bra must have gotten super hot, because there were two burn marks on her chest. It's still not clear if she'll have any lasting effects from being struck. According to an expert, it looks like the metal in her bra redirected the lightning away from her vital organs, and that's why she survived.
