With the weather still sitting in the sunny 80s, the last thing most people are thinking about is the Christmas shopping season. Walmart plans on changing that and they're using "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

Today marks the earliest Walmart has kicked off their holiday push. The retail giant is launching a first-ever Toy Week, which will provide a sneak-peek at the holiday season's hottest toys, including exclusive "Star Wars" merchandise.

Nearly 3,000 Walmart stores that are open 24 hours will host these midnight “Force Friday” events.

“ ‘Star Wars’ is the most anticipated movie release in years, and it’s creating a halo effect,” said Anne Marie Kehoe, vice president of toys for Walmart.

The retailer will stock its shelves with 500 products from the movie — and have thousands more available online.
