Reports and accounts vary, but at about this time in '68 David Gilmour officially replaced Syd Barrett in Pink Floyd and things really started getting better.  The band found a new and improved sound, formed a new style, and before long became one of Rock's elite groups with enough sonic integrity to last for five decades.  David Gilmour was the catalyst.  Even Roger Waters would have to give him his due!

Comfortably Numb is said to be his best guitar work, Time gets a lot of mentions too, but for my money the guitar work from Money is unbeatable.  So even though it's not a birthday, I still salute you today Pink Floyd fans!   The "Real" Pink Floyd was born.
