Quad City Veteran is Running Across Illinois For Suicide Awareness
Earlier this year, Brian Geerts ran all the way across the state of Iowa while carrying an American flag every step of the way. Now he's crossing Illinois.
His current run kicked off on Friday, November 2nd in Dyer, Indiana. Brian runs 22 miles a day, each mile represents one of the 22 veterans who commit suicide daily. Over the ten days of running, the vet will cover 225.87 miles and 36 towns.
Brian's run will cross back into Iowa on November 10th and he'll make his way south the following day. A ceremony is planned at the Scott County Freedom Rock in Le Claire on the 11th, Veteran's Day.
