Pennsylvania Package Pirates Caught On Video Fighting Over Stolen Delivery
A pair of porch pirates were caught on video racing to steal a freshly delivered package from a home in Sinking Spring, Berks County. The slapstick heist unfolded just seconds after a FedEx delivery driver dropped off the package and was walking away.
Dueling Porch Pirates Chase Package in Sinking Spring
As captured by a doorbell camera, the drama began with two men sprinting towards the residence. One suspect, dubbed "Fleet Feet Fred" by amused neighbors, snatched the package with the grace of a gazelle. His competition, now known as "Potted Plant Pete," trailed behind, clutching a flower pot during the altercation as a self-defense weapon.

The bewildering burglary took place while family members were inside the home.
"My family's life was at risk and that's scary," said the homeowner, who shared the hilarious yet harrowing footage. The package, containing new phones from AT&T, had seemingly become the Holy Grail for these bandits.
"How did they find out these phones were being delivered? Something fishy is going on here," the homeowner pondered on Facebook, speculating whether the pirates had insider information or just a very lucky guess.
Police Share Their Thoughts On The Matter
Chief Chris Stouch of the Lower Heidelberg Township Police Department expressed disbelief at the audacity of the thieves. "But to have these two scumbags come into our community and get into a potentially deadly altercation over stealing a package is unbelievable," Stouch said. "I really look forward to catching and apprehending these guys because I want to make an example of them."
While doorbell cameras like the one that captured the altercation have become a crucial tool in identifying such perpetrators, Stouch acknowledged that more measures are needed to curb this bad behavior. "That's a huge key to helping apprehend the individuals, but it's not stopping. As you can see in this video, at least one of the individuals was wearing some sort of mask to disguise his face," he noted.
FedEx Shares Their Thoughts On The Matter
In response to the incident, FedEx reaffirmed its commitment to secure deliveries. "In recent years we've introduced innovative visibility technologies to give our customers added peace of mind when it comes to the reliable delivery of their packages," the company stated. Their tools like Picture Proof of Delivery, FedEx Delivery Manager, and the FedEx mobile app have been instrumental in combating porch piracy, though clearly, they hadn't accounted for the dueling duo of Fred and Pete.
As the police continue their hunt for the hapless hustlers, the residents of Sinking Spring can rest a little easier knowing that their doorbell cameras are capturing more than just ordinary footage—they're providing prime entertainment and hopefully, a solid lead for law enforcement.
