Well, when you crack open a Modelo, you've just had about all the fun you're going to have. This lager from Mexico has a fancy foil-covered bottle neck and cap, so it's like a piñata without the candy. Which is not how you want your piñata.

Just the facts:

Bottle temp at opening: 38 degrees.

Drinking temp: 38 degrees

Nose: A little barley, a little corn bread.

Taste:  The colder the better.  If it gets too warm, pour it in the urinal--the urinal won't know the difference.

Rating: 2 bottles out of 6

I've enjoyed this light tasting import in many different scenarios, but it's best when under the umbrella at a cantina on the Mexican shores of the Gulf of Mexico.  It needs the right latitude to have the right attitude.

Here in my sample room, the party is more subdued, and the beer suffers.  I'm not much of a lime-in-the beer guy, but you could see how a slice of citrus helps open up this little fella's taste a bit. It's pretty straightforward barley, slightly sweet hint of corn.

Drink a dozen with a friend on a hot day from a cooler of ice, it'll get you where you want to go.
