The first album America ever got from the Beatles was released on this date in 1963... were you alive back then?  There were three record labels that laid claim to The Beatles and the publishing rights, and it was a giant mess of licenses, restraining orders and court injunctions!  But the small label  Vee-Jay records emerged as the winner by a few weeks and introduced "Introducing...The Beatles!"

After all the label jockeying, a re-release of the album with different songs, and Vee-Jay folding, Capital Records emerged as the winner and became the American home for The Beatles.  The rest is history.  So I guess we can look at this date in 1963, as sort of a birthdate for the Invasion that was about to change our lives for generations.
