‘Man Flu’ Might Be A Real Thing
Have you heard the sneezing, sniffling and coughing going on around the Quad Cities? There certainly is a cold going around. If the guy in your life has been sick, you've probably teased him about having "the man flu." Don't laugh about it though ... it just might be true.
Ourquadcities.com is reporting researcher Dr. Kyle Sue, assistant professor of family medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada, says it's a real thing. His theory is that there is an immunity gap where men tend to suffer more from viral respiratory illnesses than women. His definition of "the man flu."
Is this true? I don't know. My wife Kathy would disagree if I said I cornered the market on severe colds. I mean she's wound up with walking pneumonia. So I suspect this is an argument I wouldn't win. One thing no one will disagree with: Being sick is a miserable experience. So cover your mouth when you cough, wash those hands frequently and try not to breathe on me.
