I want to start by saying that I am very thankful for all the good drivers who work with Doordash. 99% of my interactions on DoorDash have been positive and solid... until we got a Dasher named "Takia."

Many of us have all heard stories about this scam, but we seem to be hearing more and more of these stories. Many questions and stories about food being taken have shown up on different sites over the years.

Driver Stealing Your Food Scam

According to Ridseter some of the largest scams involving DoorDash are phishing (stealing your information) or stealing your food. The buyer can get a refund, but it's hard to say if the driver who stole the food always gets punished.

DoorDash’s drivers are independent contractors. Tampering with or stealing food is not tolerated by the company.

The scam we saw has the Dasher push "arriving now" Spoiler Alert... it was never arriving!

How My Food Got Stolen

After ordering about $40 worth of food we waited for the time frame that DoorDash gave us... then 20 minutes AFTER that time frame passed so we messaged the driver Takia saying'

"Just making sure everything is okay. Thanks!"

No response. Then we hit 35 minutes. We checked their location and they were parked outside a house off of West Locust street. They stayed parked there for another 15 minutes. We called the number to no answer. Then we sent a message,

"Hey we just wanted to see if you picked up that order. It could be a glitch or something, but we didn't get our food, and we don't want to get you in trouble. Could you message us back?"

At this point, we were pretty sure what happened but didn't want to report anyone just yet. After an hour and a half of waiting passed the estimated delivery time, and "Takia" was still not responding to messages or calls. Their car had also not moved from the location off Locust. We finally reported them.

It's a simple scam, but it's frustrating. If you get a driver named "Takia" make sure you keep track of your order.

The DoorDash Customer Service Is Great

Shout out to the live chat customer service who gave us a full refund, and made a report on the incident. They were friendly and quick. In the end, we didn't get food, but we did get an extra $5 credit.

Sources say that theft in food delivery not only happens but could be on the rise. What do you think? After this, I may just agree.

Iowa Stingray Home

This home is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It holds two tanks, both around 300 gallons each. They both contain different types of stingrays. As for right now, this project is just for fun, though the owners do hope to someday breed these rays.

It's been about a 6-month process getting all the supplies, tanks, and stingrays.
