A recent list highlighted some of the best burger spots not only in major cities across the country but in the United States as a whole. Naturally, Chicago, being a food hub with a rich culinary scene, would find itself on such a list. But the question is, which specific spot in the city is regarded as the best according to this particular source?

It should be noted that this is opinion based, but according to Chaepism, this historic spot has "Chicago locals will name this burg the best in Chicago."  Next time im in Chicago I have to give this spot a try.

The "Best" Burger In Illinois

This spot was first established in 1934. Not only is the history rich, but so is the food. Billy Goat Tavern is being called the best spot for a burger in Chicago.

The Billy Goat will live forever in the hearts and minds of SNL fans, but hordes of Chicago locals will name this burg the best in Chicago. The double patties and kaiser rolls never get old, but be honest, you’re just hearing “Cheeseborger, cheeseborger, cheeseborger” in your head right now.

Personally I had never heard of this spot, but with a recommendation like that. It seems like we all need to try Billy Goat Tavern. Their website states,

It all began in 1934 when Billy “Goat” Sianis founded his tavern. It immediately became a favorite home of Chicago journalists, who helped the legend continue to grow.
