There is an urgent recall on a popular frozen Mexican food sold at Aldi stores in Iowa.

Officials are very concerned about getting these popular taquitos off shelves, but mainly out of the freezers in people's homes. If you frequently buy this product or know someone who does, get rid of it immediately.

Iowa Aldi Stores Recall Taquitos Containing Metal

The USDA announced that the company Bestway Sandwiches Inc. is recalling approximately 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal.

These items were shipped to select ALDI grocery stores nationwide, including in Iowa. I checked to see if you could order them online and it definitely let me select them to add to my cart on Jan. 15th.

Injury Occurred From Metal In Taquitos

Officials say that the problem was discovered after the firm notified FSIS that it received a consumer complaint reporting that a piece of metal was found in the frozen chicken and cheese taquito product.

Another consumer reported to FSIS to have a dental injury from the product.

There have been no additional reports of injury or illness reported but anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that some taquitos containing metal may be in customers' freezers. Those who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
