A Davenport car dealership decided to close its doors without any warning.

According to the Quad-City TimesVan Horn Alfa Romeo-Fiat (which is off of I-80) has closed and the dealership didn't offer any reason as to why.

Customer Joe Knox told the Quad-City Times yesterday:

I had a service appointment at Van Horn Alfa Romeo. I received a text 30 minutes prior to the 9 a.m. appointment, saying they had closed their doors. I was in route from Sherrard when I received the text so did not see it. I was met with some rather unhappy employees.

As of Monday, the dealership's website is listed as no longer active, their Facebook has been deleted, and Google lists the business as 'permanently closed'.

However, they apparently announced that they were closing on their last day of business on Friday, September 30th. The Quad Cities Regional Business Journal says that an email was sent to customers of the dealership on Friday, September 30th letting them know of the closure effective immediately. The email said in part:

We’re sorry to inform you that Van Horn Alfa Romeo Fiat of Davenport will be permanently closing effective immediately. We truly appreciate your business over the past four years, and we are honored to have been part of such a wonderful community.

It said that its Oil For Life customers could redeem their benefits at Van Horn Ford Chevrolet in Newhall. But the email didn't give a reason for the sudden closure.

History

The dealership was built in 2004 and was originally a D&D Hummer. Zimmerman Honda bought the D&D Fiat in 2016.

In 2018, the Wisconsin-based Van Horn Automotive Group bought the dealership, according to the Quad-City Times.
