Popular Eastern Iowa Film Festival Announces 2024 Lineup
A beloved downtown Davenport arts festival has released it's films lineup for this year's festival.
The popular Alternating Currents festival, which brings music, art, film, and comedy to downtown Davenport, will be returning August 15th-18th.
Comedy, music, and the festival's performances can be found at venues all over downtown Davenport. It brings a lot to the arts, especially to film. It is the QC's largest annual film festival with dozens of film screenings from independent filmmakers. It attracts submissions from all over the world, including Paris, Hamburg, and London. It includes films from local filmmakers too.
This year, the 24 movies selected for screenings will be at The Last Picture House (the cool new venue on E. 2nd Street). Categories include Experimental Films, Documentary Films, Student Films, and Short Narrative Films.
Local submissions include "Meet Me At The End Of It All" by Brandon Gale in Rock Island and "Cultural Abduction" by Abdur M. Howard in Davenport.
There are many Iowa and Illinois filmmakers who are part of the film festival this year. Erika Valenciana and Mitchell Wenkus, directors of "Broken Flight", are from Chicago. Patrick Boberg is from Des Moines, whose film "Essential Essence" was created in 48 hours. Hannah Rosalie Wright, from Des Moines, is the director of "Parallel Lines", which is a music video.
The exact time of each film and the lineup specifics have not been announced yet. You can keep up with the latest from Alternating Currents as we get closer to August on their website or Facebook page.
