Iowa Is One Of The Most Festive States For Halloween
September is over, spooky season is here!
Even if you've waited until the beginning of October to kick off spooky season, it's finally here. I couldn't find the pumpkin and ghost sugar cookies in the grocery store this week. That's how you know.
Halloween But Make It Boo-tiful
It's no secret the Midwest knows how to party and that extends to Halloween. As you drag out your Halloween decorations, we want to see them! You could win $500!
Iowa Loves Halloween
A study by Consumer Affairs found that Iowa is a really good place to celebrate Halloween. We get into it here. Iowa ranked 16th in the nation for Halloween festivities. The study looked at (using retrospect 2023 data):
- Most haunted attractions per capita
- Most Spirit Halloween stores per capita
- Most online searches for Halloween movies
- Most online searches for Halloween costumes
- Most pumpkin patches per capita
They also looked at search interest in things like pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween candies, and Halloween music. They averaged all of this out to give every state a "Terror Tally". New Hampshire is apparently the most festive.
The Most "Festive" Halloween Event In Iowa
Inconveniently, Halloween falls on a Thursday this year. But that means celebrations the weekend before and the weekend after.
Our Halloween Ball is October 26th from 6:00 p.m.-midnight at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds! $25 gets you in, which includes some great live music and free food!
Not to mention, there are $2000 total up for grabs in our costume contest.
Get your tickets for the Halloween Ball before it sells out and we'll see you there!
