Illinois Woman Gifted $1 Million Winning Lottery Ticket
We love giving folks gifts that matter but this one takes the cake.
According to a release from the Illinois Lottery, a woman (who is staying anonymous) won $1 million from a Lucky Day Lotto ticket.
She was gifted the ticket from a regular customer at Fas Mart, which is at 6010 East Riverside Blvd. in Loves Park (north of Rockford). The ticket itself was just $1 but it would definitely earn itself back then some. It was bought in time for the April 22nd midday drawing. The winning ticket matched all five numbers drawn, winning her the $1 million jackpot.
She told Illinois Lottery she plans to use the money to buy a car, give some of it to her grandfather, find a new place to live, and save the rest.
As for the convenience store that sold the winning ticket, Fas Mart in Loves Park will get a selling bonus of 1% of the prize amount: $10,000.
The odds of winning the jackpot in Lucky Day Lotto are 1 in 1.2 million. It's an Illinois-only lottery game and still has better odds than winning Powerball or Megamillions. Lucky Day Lotto has two daily drawings: 12:40 p.m. and 9:22 p.m. Illinois Lottery says that so far this year, over 4 million winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets have been sold, amounting to over $22 million in winnings.
Illinois Lottery also offers online play with iLottery, which is how a person won $500,000 a few months ago. Tickets to play Lucky Day Lotto can be bought online, in-store, or on the Illinois Lottery app.
