Classic Movie Filmed In Iowa (But Set In Nebraska) To Have Special Screening
It's definitely not "Field Of Dreams".
Really, it's more like 'Field Of Nightmares'.
This summer, you'll be able to see a classic movie that was filmed in 3 Iowa locations in the towns where it was filmed.
It's a really uplifting movie (based on the lighthearted Stephen King story) about a group of adults in the fictional town of Gatlin, Nebraska who become victims to a scary cult and something evil in the cornfields.
That's right. It's "Children of the Corn".
Even though the movie is set in Nebraska, it was actually filmed in 3 Iowa towns: Whiting, Hornick and Sioux City.
Really, now, the 80's look of it all makes it just all the creepier, along with the evil thing in the fields, known as 'He Who Walks Behind The Rows'.
On July 11th and 12th, there will be a special screening of "Children of the Corn" in Whiting, along with multiple events. It's part of a series this summer from Myers House called On Set Cinema, allowing horror fans to watch their favorite movies in the area where they were filmed.
Special events pre-screening include a walking tour of filming locations (downtown Gatlin in the movie) and on the 12th, a bus tour of filming locations including Hornick and Salix and the "Children of the Corn" house.
You can get tickets on Myers House's website, but they are $30 for the Friday walking/screening ($25 if you're an Iowa resident), or a standard ticket + the bus tour for $65.
The original "Children of the Corn" movie spawned a franchise of movies.
