An Open Letter To Anyone Going To The Mississippi Valley Fair This Weekend
We're heading into the weekend of Mississippi Valley Fair 2024 and there's a nugget of knowledge you need.
We're having a blast at MVF. The grandstand acts have been awesome, from Thomas Rhett on Tuesday, to Koe Wetzel and Priscilla Block on Wednesday, and T-Pain Thursday night. The weekend lineup looks great too, with Bret Michaels on Friday, Alice Cooper on Saturday, and Scotty McCreery on Sunday.
The One Thing You Need To Know
We've reviewed stuff like the fair's clear bag policy and technical stuff. You also know that if there's ever a time you want to wear jeans with the butt cut out of them (yes we've seen it) or lingerie as a shirt, this is your time to shine.
One thing that makes the Mississippi Valley Fair so fun is that there's so much unique stuff to do. As always, your favorite radio stations (I-Rock 93.5, 97X, B100, and U.S. 104.9) are set up on Grandstand Way all day, everyday. We're right next to a mechanical bull and across from Chuckie's pork tenderloin truck.
You can enjoy parades throughout the day like tractors and the Budweiser Clydesdales, all kinds of live music, over 40 different fair food vendors, rides, livestock exhibitions, and...
our Plinko board.
That, dear friends, is Plinko.
How To Play It
For those of us who watched "The Price Is Right" on sick days home from school, we know how to play Plinko. I can't believe we've had to explain the rules so many times, so if you don't know how to play, let's review so you can rock it at MVF with us this weekend.
What you do: There are 5 pucks with the station logos on the table. You pick your fave. You lay the puck flat against the top of the board and drop it. That's it. Gravity does the work. Wherever it lands is the prize you get. There is no strategy. It doesn't matter where you drop it, since it can bounce all across the board.
What you do not do:
- Throw the puck at the board
- Tap the puck in the middle when it gets caught
- Try to stick the puck on one of the pegs
- Throw a fit if you don't win anything
My advice is to watch at least one episode of "The Price Is Right" before you head out to the fair this weekend (at the very least for your growth as a human) and learn to play the intriguing, gravitational game of Plinko. You don't have to stand behind the board like they do in the show but you can certainly try if you'd like!
