Rush Drummer Neil Peart turns 62 today ... celebrate by playing some Rush on your mobile device today, or catch an extra Rush song on the Punch-Out today.  Neil joined Rush in 1974 AFTER their first album was released, but BEFORE their first tour to promote it.  Since then, he's developed in to the second-best drummer of all time (my opinion), an industry icon, known for elaborate drum solos in concert, and the primary lyricist for the band.  In addition to that, he's written about 5 books.

He lost his daughter and his common-law wife in one year's time, so he took some time away to get his head straight and spent about 50,000 miles on his motorcycle travelling all over North and Central America.  Then he came back and went to work again.  I can't help feeling admiration for him for how he handled that period in his life.  And I can't help admiring his work, especially looking back at the Rush shows I saw in my teens.  Lots of great memories.  I salute you today Rush fans ...  all you beat keepers too...
