A new study analyzed four million calls people made to customer service between 2013 and 2015, and figured which people in which states talk the most, and the fastest.

We're talking about the callers here, not the customer service reps. We all know they're not in your state or even the country.

They found people in New York talk the most and people in Iowa talk the least. New Yorkers use 62% more words per minute than Iowans do.

The five states where people talk the most are New York, California, New Jersey, Nevada, and Maryland. The bottom five are Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

The fastest talkers are in Oregon, followed by Minnesota, Massachusetts, Kansas, and Iowa. The slowest talkers are all in the South: Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, Alabama, and North Carolina.

The researchers also looked at how long it took people to hang up if they got put on hold. People in Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, Colorado, and Louisiana lasted the longest. People in Kentucky hung up the fastest, followed by Ohio, North Carolina, New York, and West Virginia.
