10-year-old Thomas Moore lives in Bowie, Maryland, just outside D.C. About two years ago, he saw a video on Facebook about a little girl with cancer who lost all her hair from chemo.

Thomas told his mom he wanted to grow his hair out and donate it. She didn't suggest it, he just said he wanted to do it. So she said okay.

It turned out the kid can really grow some hair, because he ended up with a huge afro. When he finally got it cut this month, there was enough hair to make three wigs, not just one.

His mom says his huge hair sort of became part of his personality. He had second thoughts about cutting it, but went through with it anyway. Now he says he likes his short hair better, because it doesn't get caught in bushes and other stuff when he's outside playing.
