This day in 1974 was one of the most significant days in Van Halen's history.  Today they became the "main" house band at the legendary club Gazzarris on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.  This club was the launching pad for MANY rock bands like Buffalo Springfield, The Doors, Guns n' Roses, Ratt, Cinderella, Poison, Motley Crue, Warrant, Quiet Riot,  and the list keeps going.  But Van Halen had a run there that eventually led to a 1977 recording session and a label contract, and things worked out pretty well for them, eh!

Over the years, many people have laid some claim to the success of Van Halen... Gene Simmons, Ted Templeman, Mo Ostin, Mark Algorri ...  but none of them did as much as the late Bill Gazzarri did to catapult Van Halen, just by signing them as the house band even though he thought they would never make it because they were too loud!  By the looks of his roster in the 80's, he sure changed his mind about "volume" didn't he?
