The Governor in Iowa required U.S. flags be flown at half-staff to honor the sacrifice of an Iowa Marine Corporal who died in action.  As a flag flying patriot, I wanted to also honor the Governor's request (and at previous occasions).  Here is the official release from Des Moines:

***Gov. Terry Branstad has ordered all flags in Iowa be flown at half-staff from 5 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014, until 8 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, in honor of Marine Corps Corporal Adam F. Wolff, 25, of Ottumwa, Iowa.***

If you have a house mounted flag and wish to show respect, you may tie a small black ribbon above the flag. God bless you and your family Marine Corps Corporal Adam F. Wolff, 25, of Ottumwa, Iowa and the families of the others who perished protecting my freedom. Thank-you for your service, and ultimate sacrifice.
