A common tradition in hockey is to throw out your hat if a player ever scores a hat trick. Some arenas even hold "Chuck-A-Puck" contests. The Calgary Hitmen have a completely different tradition, the Teddy Bear Toss.

Fans of the Hitmen have been encouraged since 1995 to toss out a teddy bear when Calgary scores their first goal of the match. This year they collected 28,815 bears, in '95 they grabbed 1,323. Since starting the Teddy Bear Toss, Calgary has donated over 298,000 stuffed animals to 50 different charities.
