Happy Birthday Ritchie !

Today is 70th birthday for Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple and Rainbow fame.  He's been associated with several other projects, but I think a great 70th birthday present this year would be for Deep Purple to be inducted in to the R&R Hall of Fame!  They have been snubbed every year since their eligibility, and it's just not right.

Deep Purple has had one of the most confusing histories of any band alive, but they have an impressive alumni that includes David Coverdale, Tommy Bolin, Joe Lynn Turner, Joe Satriani among others.  But the early 70's line up that had Ritchie, Jon Lord, Roger Glover, Ian Gillan, Ian Paice was their best, and that's the band that really deserves to be in "The Hall."  So here's hoping that this is the year!   For the Cubs AND for Deep Purple too !!
