Furniture store “loses” $600,000 in sales promotion

At Gallery Furniture in Houston, the deal was simple: buy $5000 worth of furniture and predict the two teams that will make it to the Superbowl. If you predict correctly, you get your money back. He offered the deal last week so the odds were pretty good...TOO good actually. 80% of his customers got it right and got the stuff for free. Over $600,000 worth.
The owner, Jim "Mattress Mack" McInvale didn't have one of those promotional insurance policies--it all came out of his pocket.
He ain't done losing money, either. Now through Super Sunday, spend $6000 and if the Seahawks win you get everything for free. He delivers anywhere (even the Quad Cities).

Seems a lot like gambling, yes?
Did I fail to mention...they have live monkeys in his store. (Oddly enough, that's the first thing I look for when I furniture shop: "You guys got any caged monkeys down there?")
