A man dropped his phone between two rocks while walking on a beach in Narrangansett, Rhode Island on Saturday. When he bent down to pick it up, he got stuck up to his chest.

Firefighters responded and knew they had to work fast because the tide was coming in. It took them over two and a half hours and some olive oil to free him. They would have used airbags, but feared that the rocks would shift and make matters worse.

The man was treated at a nearby hospital for hypothermia and a small injury on his foot.
