Eleven-Foot Alligator Eats Burglary Suspect Hiding in Pond

In retrospect, this guy really should've let the cops arrest him, and do his month or so in jail.

22-year-old Matthew Riggins of Palm Bay, Florida was breaking into houses last month, some people spotted him and called the cops. He called his girlfriend and told her he was going to hide from them. And she never heard from him again.

Well, it turns out his hiding place was a pond. A pond which he didn't realize was already occupied by an 11-foot alligator. The gator apparently attacked Matthew and killed him. His body was found floating in the pond 10 days later.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission trapped the gator and put him down. They say they found evidence of Matthew in his stomach.
