Corpus Christi Hooks Fan Charged Mound to Fight Opposing Pitcher After Batter is Hit by Pitch
Any time a wild pitch hits a batter, there's the potential for a brawl. But this is the first time we've seen a fan get involved.
The Corpus Christi Hooks played a minor league baseball game against the Midland Rockhounds on Sunday night in Texas. In the bottom of the 5th, the pitcher for Midland nailed the first baseman for the Hooks in the shoulder.
The guy got up and trotted to first like it was no big deal, but 15 seconds later, a 35-year-old fan name Nikolas Swope charged the mound. Before he could take a swing, another Midlands player knocked him to the ground.
Then the rest of the team showed up, and umpires had to escort him off. He's facing charges of criminal trespassing and threatening assault. And yeah, he was drunk.
