Cedar Rapids Man Arrested For Burglary in Police Parking Lot
If somebody is dumb enough to burglarize a car, it should be no surprise that they were dumb enough to do it in the parking lot at the police station.
Turns out somebody is dumb enough to do just that. 27-year-old Alex Thompson jumped a fence at the Cedar Rapids Police Department at about 4am on Thursday. He then broke into the personal vehicle of a police officer according to the Linn County Attorney's Office.
Thompson was able to grab several items from the glove box before he was eventually caught. He was immediately arrested and charged with third-degree theft and criminal trespass. He's looking at up to two years in prison.
In the past, Thompson has been convicted of conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of a controlled substance, drunken driving, criminal mischief, and other offenses in Linn County.
