De Halve Maan brewery is in the center a Bruges, which is a problem as far as shipping is concerned. The historical buildings and cobbled streets are always at risk.

The brewery, along with some crowdfunding, just installed a 2-mile-long pipeline that will pump 1,000 gallons of beer an hour to a bottling plant on the outskirts of the town. The total cost was around $4.5 million.

Mayor of Bruges Renaat Landuyt said, “It was so important to find that solution for our mobility problem, because if we want to work in a modern way, from time to time we need to let trucks enter the historical city, and that is what we don’t like, because it is always a risk for the historical buildings and streets.”
