The Quad Cities River Bandits' cap, featuring a raccoon with a bandana and cowboy hat, has been voted by fans across the country as the best cap among all 100 Class-A and short-season league teams – a total of nine leagues in Minor League Baseball – in MiLB.com's Clash of the Caps, whose results were announced Thursday.
The River Bandits cap finished at the top of rankings for the 100 teams in Class-A and short-season leagues – including the advanced Class-A California, Carolina and Florida State Leagues, the Class-A Midwest and South Atlantic Leagues, the short-season-Class A New York-Penn League and Northwest League, and the rookie-level Appalachian and Pioneer Leagues. More than two million votes were cast online in the MiLB.com Clash of the Caps from May 2-22.
“Fans in the Quad Cities region and across the country showed their Bandits pride in the Clash of the Caps competition,” said team owner Dave Heller. “We are flattered that fans from across the country love our whimsical logo, and grateful for the support of those who voted the River Bandits cap as one of the most popular in baseball.”
