When I talked with Jason Gilliland about this years Alternating Currents, he was super pumped about taking it to a wider audience and expanding throughout the whole Quad Cities. Alas, this festival celebrating original live music, film screenings, comedians, and visual artists will be postponed this year.

Event organizers from Downtown Davenport Partnership announced the cancellation of Alternating Currents, originally scheduled for August 27-30, 2020 as a regional event across five Quad Cities downtown areas. Downtown Bettendorf Organization’s (DBO) Be Downtown event, originally re-scheduled from June to coincide with Alternating Currents, also has been cancelled.

Alternating Currents has a home base in Downtown Davenport where you can "choose your own adventure" with over 100 performances across sixteen venues downtown including Quad City ARts chalk art festival,  OMG Becky Fest, kids activities, and of course, dozens of more bands, comedians, films, and art shows.

But that will have to wait until next year.

“In order to keep Quad Citizens and visitors safe, we felt it best to cancel events that included large gatherings downtown,” stated Kyle Carter, Executive Director of DDP. “We will continue to support our downtown businesses as we have throughout the pandemic with promotions that encourage people to eat, drink, shop and explore downtown within public health guidelines.”

But without the AC they're still helping businesses downtown with the Downtown Front Porch project.  They' feature over 40 organizations through images & stories as a way to get to know the fine folks behind downtown businesses Davenport.

The goal of the Downtown Front Porch project is to remind people that downtown is vibrant, welcoming and open for business.
