It was on this day back in 1971 that guilty verdicts were handed down on all 27 counts to Charles Manson and 3 members of his cult "family" for the murders and related charges they were being tried for.  All 4 were sentenced to death, but because of a temporary change in California law, none of them were executed.

There was a time when I thought that the book "Helter Skelter" should have been required reading in at least the college level.  Now, however, I don't.  There is far too much evil and too much violence in the world now.  We can be thankful that the Manson Family never got away with anything, and never were released.
