[UPDATE: In Custody] Suspect Identified in Killing of Des Moines Area Police Officers

The Des Moines Police Department are reporting that two area officers were killed shortly after 1 a.m. in what is being called an “ambush-style attack.”

UPDATE 9:25 a.m.:

The suspect is now in police custody.

Urbandale Police Department

Police are seeking 46-year-old Scott Michael Greene of Urbandale. He is a white male, 5’11”, 180 pounds, with brown hair, and green eyes. Police believe he is driving a blue 2011 Ford F-150 with Iowa license plate 780 YFR. The truck has a silver colored topper with a ladder rack.
Greene is considered armed and dangerous.

Des Moines Police Department

A police officer from Des Moines was responding to a shots fired report at 1:06 a.m. this morning and found an Urbandale police officer suffering from a gun shot at the scene. Twenty minutes later a Des Moines officer was found shot just a couple miles away.

Both officers were in their squad cars at the time they were shot and both have died from their wounds. The Des Moines Police Department currently has no information on a suspect.
