The Steve Perry Mystery

The accurate part of the story is that on this date back in 1977, Steve Perry officially joined the band Journey and eventually took them to a level of success that was incomprehensible at the time.

The mystery is, some accounts say he made his debut on an encore song, the 3rd night of a 3-night stop in San Francisco.  Other accounts have him being "snuck in" to the gig as a roadie and rehearsing with the band while the current lead singer, Robert Fleischman, was taking a break.  That story ends with the band members being told by the manager "...here's your new lead singer..."

Whichever version is true, today marks a pretty significant day in Classic Rock history AND for Journey.  So maybe today is a good day to dust off "Infinity" for a quick spin!
