The Scariest Painting Ever

My wife's family had a tavern in the old days, and this painting was hanging in the bar for years.  Used to scare the heck out of her when she was a kid.  Now it hangs in our basement bar--I love it.

I have no idea where it came from, but I hope someday to hear the story of the painting, and the story behind how it got to hang at Felger's Hi-De-Ho Tavern in the Village back in the day!
