The official definition of a binge drinker is someone who puts down at least four or five drinks in one session. In other words: Someone who regularly drinks specifically to get drunk.

The CDC just released some new stats on binge drinkers. Last year, they put down an average of 470 total drinks to try to get drunk. If they stuck to the four or five drinks rule, that means they got drunk between 94 and 118 times, or more than twice a week.

The grand total of drinks for the United States tops off at around 17 billion. More than half of binge drinkers were 35 or older.
