Here's a fun way to support the veterans and active military members in the Quad Cities area. The Freedom Run 5K welcomes all participants, runners or walkers.

The whole race is military themed: the starter pistol is a cannon, the medals are dog tags, the pace car is a WWII Army Jeep, the course is lined with military vehicles and American flags, and each runner gets a special military style t-shirt.

There will be four races held on Thursday, August 2nd in downtown East Moline. The 5K Run/Walk starts at 6:30 P.M. with gradual inclines and a fast downhill section. The Double time Loop is the same as the 5K but includes a second loop around the course.

The Frontline Mile is a flat, out and back course that starts at 6 P.M. The kid-friendly Ground Pounder Fun Run kicks off at 5:45 P.M. and features fun and easy obstacles.
