A school bus in Charlotte, North Carolina crashed into a house while carrying nearly two dozen students because the driver swerved to miss a cat in the street.

The bus driver, Latoeya Patton, and fourteen students were admitted to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Patton was hired by the school district in March 2004. She told police that the crash occurred after she swerved to avoid a cat.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg School district is assisting police as they work to find out what caused the bus to crash. "Just make sure the bus driver was following all of the safety rules and making sure they weren’t texting and driving," said Terry McCade.
