New to the Quad Cities? Just move here from out of state? Then like me, you need to register to vote. Tuesday September 25 is National Voter Registration Day and the Scott County Auditor and the Rock Island County Clerk are throwing a rally to get us registered.

The rally is tomorrow from 2PM CT to 6PM CT in Davenport's Lafayette Park. 4th and Gaines Street. It's free to the public and Illinois and Iowa residents can get themselves registered to vote. In addition there will be food, speakers and even a DJ. This according to a report in the Quad City Times.

If you can't get to the rally you still have time to register to vote. In Iowa the registration deadline to vote is Saturday October 27. In Illinois the registration deadline is Tuesday October 9th. If you have a license or ID for the state you live in it's easy to register on line. Illinois residents can register here. Iowa residents here.

If you're a procrastinator and you don't get registered in time ... that doesn't mean you can't vote in the election on November 6. Both Iowa and Illinois offer election day registration.

Elections and the people who represent us are decided by those who show up. Make your voice heard! Register and then vote.
