Quad City Native Receives Pat Tillman Award For Service

As recognition of his perseverance and determination as a football player and soldier, the ESPY Awards created the Pat Tillman Award for Service. This year Jake Wood, a Pleasant Valley graduate received it.

Jake is the co-founder and CEO of Team Rubicon, a group that unites military veterans and first responders to form emergency response teams. Team Rubicon has responded to over 275 disasters since 2010 and now consists of 80,000 members.

Our homegrown recipient of the Pat Tillman Award also earned the Navy-Marine Commendation Medal while deployed as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a scout sniper in Iraq and Afghanistan.
