Porch Pirate Scared Off By Protective Family Dog

A porch pirate picked the wrong home to try and steal from.

Thanks to Zero, the 9-year-old black lab, the thief was forced to flee empty-handed. In the video you see the suspect drop the package in the road and nearly fall out of the vehicle trying to get away from Zero as the getaway driver sped away.

“I just kind of yelled, ‘Get ‘em Zero! Get ‘em!” the dog's owner, Whitney Cahoon , told FOX13 .

Cahoon said that she was surprised Zero gave chase because he's usually "scared of everyone and everything."

“I mean dusters, plastic bags, the cats...he’s terrified of the cats,” she added.

Whitney explained that package thefts in her neighborhood have been a growing problem .
